Different dietary protein levels for Podocnemis unifilis subadult farming: hematological and biochemical assessment

چکیده
This study evaluated the physiological responses of subadult yellow-spotted Amazon river turtle, Podocnemis unifilis, to incremental crude protein levels (29%, 32%, 35%, and 39% CP) as extruded commercial feeds. The hematological plasma biochemical parameters P. unifilis were analyzed at 60, 120, 180 days feeding trial. increase in total thrombocyte, leukocyte, lymphocyte, heterophil, eosinophil numbers, besides high respiratory burst activity showed an improvement animal immune defense response diets, acting together maintain integrity tissues against antigens infectious agents. Elevated cholesterol triglyceride observed after increasing time (until days) with incremented artificial diets during captivity are a nutritional warning, related condition being less physically active. Based on these results, periodic evaluations particularly important ensure healthy adequate conditions captive-bred animals, such maintaining lower stocking densities animals avoid stress and, if possible, providing them fresh food addition feed.

Nest site has influence on incubation duration and hatching success of two Neotropical turtles, the giant Amazon River turtle (Podocnemis expansa) and yellow-spotted side-neck turtle (Podocnemis unifilis--'Tracajá'). The 2000 and 2001 nesting seasons have been monitored at the Javaés River in Bananal Island, Brazil. Although they nest on the same beaches, there is a separation of the nesting ar...
متن کاملCytogenetic comparison of Podocnemis expansa and Podocnemis unifilis: A case of inversion and duplication involving constitutive heterochromatin
Podocnemis expansa and P. unifilis present 2n = 28 chromosomes, a diploid number similar to those observed in other species of the genus. The aim of this study was to characterize these two species using conventional staining and differential CBG-, GTG and Ag-NOR banding. We analyzed specimens of P. expansa and P. unifilis from the state of Tocantins (Brazil), in which we found a 2n = 28 and ka...
متن کاملSome Productive, Reproductive and Physiological Effects of Using Different Dietary Protein Levels in Rabbit Does
Three groups of 11 New Zealand White (NZW) rabbit does, each were reared from 12 weeks of age on iso-energetic diets containing 16, 14 or 12% crude protein (CP) were used to study influences on productive performance, digestibility, some carcass traits, haematological, biochemical and hormonal parameters of rabbit does. The results showed rabbits fed on 16% protein diet had heavier body weights...

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of different dietary protein levels on growth, survival and body composition of Hediste diversicolor. Three isocaloric diets with three different protein levels containing high protein (50%), medium protein (35%) and low protein (20%) were designed in three replicates in completely randomized design. Hediste worm larvae weighing 0.02±0.005g we...
